Our Hearcare Services
1. Book Online
Book at one of our clinics, at a day and time that suits you, using our easy online booking system.
2. Pre-Appointment Steps
Before visiting our clinic, apply ear oil to soften ear wax for a safe and easy removal. You may apply ear oil either via spray or droplet delivery, and should do this between 2-4 times daily, for 5 days prior to your appointment. Visit our FAQ for more information on softening wax.
3. Safe Earwax Removal
Attend your appointment and have your ears gently cleaned. Any ear wax will be removed using microsuction - a safer, more comfortable and more effective method than all other forms of ear cleaning.
What is Earwax Removal?
Microsuction earwax removal is largely considered as one of the most effective and safe methods for removing earwax.
After screening the ear canal, a low-pressure suction device is used to loosen and remove the targeted earwax and possible debris, as well as any additional hardened (or 'impacted') earwax.
An integral part of the process is the microscope, which gave rise to the name ‘microsuction’, and is used to provide the clinical specialist with a full view of the ear to enable a more accurate, safer and faster procedure for the patient.
Why Choose Us?
We pride ourselves in our easy to book and minimal wait time appointments. Our online booking allows you to fit an appointment around your schedule, without compromising the quality of your care.
We offer an ear examination, known as an otoscopy, which our in house clinicians will conduct to screen whether you will need to have earwax removed.
Under the lead of a qualified Audiologist, our process by microsuction is the safest and most effective for removing earwax.

Local PCR are offering private Earwax Removal and general Audiology services to assist those who feel their ears are blocked, or generally have hearing concerns.
Excess earwax can cause pressure, a painful inner ear and/or a loss of hearing. Microsuction is a safe and quick procedure that removes the build up of excess earwax through a gentle process.
One of our qualified clinicians will remove the excess wax using a low pressure suction unit within a 30 minute session.
All our procedures are administered by our team of Healthcare Assistants and Clinical Audiologists, overseen by our Hearcare lead and Medical Director to ensure the highest level of safety and quality care.

The body naturally secretes Earwax which can build up in the ears and cause problems with hearing, aching, dizziness and tinnitus.
Often the body removes the wax itself, but in others it may need to be extracted by a health professional.
We offer microsuction earwax removal which is recognised as one of the safest and most comfortable methods to have excess earwax build-up removed from your inner ears.
Earwax build up is caused by a number of reasons including:
- Frequently using cotton ear buds to clean the ears
- Ear plugs or hearing aids
- Natural excessive body secretion
- Ears producing hard or dry ear wax
- Opening of the ear to the ear drum which can be caused by narrow or hair ear canals
- Ageing can also be a reason due to ear wax drying as we get older
- Growth spurs in the ear canal
In order for us to remove earwax within the appointed time, and to facilitate the microsuction process, it is important to soften wax prior to visiting our clinic. To do this, we ask that you use medical grade olive oil in both ears 2-4 times daily, for a period of 5 days prior to attending your appointment to make the extraction as comfortable as possible.
After initial use of the ear oil, your ears may feel clogged for a temporary period. This is due to earwax soaking up the oil and causing a sensation of fullness.
We also recommend avoiding the use of Hearing Aids after applying olive oil as these may damage the devices and potentially void any existing warranty. For the best results, we recommend following the usage guidelines on your ear oil spray or drops.
Olive oil used within the ears may cause mild discomfort or irritation, which is normal for some people. If you do have any concerns following use of the olive oil, get in touch with us and speak to your GP for further advice.
It could take a matter of minutes or longer depending on the severity of the ear wax build up. We expect that all appointments should be completed within a 30 minute period. Where the extraction cannot be successfully completed within this time due to hardened wax, we may schedule a free of charge follow up appointment to finish the procedure.
Micro-suction is a quick and painless treatment which uses a small device to gently vacuum earwax out from your ear. This is widely understood to be the safest option, especially if you have a damaged ear drum.
When attending your appointment, our clinician will begin with an otoscopy which involves a magnifying device used to inspect your inner ear. Through this, they will assess the need for an earwax removal, and any complications within your ear before the procedure.
The clinician will then perform the microsuction using a tiny vacuum to remove any built-up earwax if deemed appropriate.
With the removal of the ear wax, any symptoms caused by the ear wax will quickly disappear. However, you may experience mild discomfort and minor symptoms for a short period following your completed microsuction earwax removal:
- Mild headaches
- Mild inner ear discomfort
If you are looking to book an earwax removal, but have experienced any of the below symptoms within the last 90 days, we recommend contacting us before scheduling your appointment:
- Ear pain
- Any middle ear infections
- Any fluid discharge from your inner ear
- Any current or recurrent ear infection
- Any past operations in or around the ear
- Suspect you have any foreign bodies in the ear canal
- Suspect you have a perforated eardrum
